Karate Kid Legends Netflix Release

LOS ANGELES, CA — “Karate Kid: Legends,” the latest installment in the beloved martial arts franchise, is set to premiere on Netflix on September 27, 2025, following a tumultuous theater release earlier this year.

The film debuted in cinemas on May 30, 2025, and features returning stars Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio alongside newcomer Ben Wang, who takes on the role of Li Fong, a kung fu prodigy from Beijing. As he moves to New York, Li enters a karate competition where he must combine his kung fu skills with karate under the guidance of Mr. Han (Chan) and Daniel LaRusso (Macchio).

The cast also includes Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. While the film builds upon connections to both the “Cobra Kai” series and the 2010 reboot, it is designed to stand alone for first-time viewers.

In an interview with The Direct, the show’s creators emphasized the film’s importance in the franchise’s ongoing narrative, stating, “It is technically a ‘Karate Kid’ movie… they both have Daniel LaRusso. That movie is branching off the tree from the movie of 2010.”

Despite its mixed reviews—scoring 58 percent from critics on Rotten Tomatoes while audiences rated it 90 percent—”Legends” earned approximately $115 million globally against a $45 million budget. According to reports, it will be available on Netflix for 18 months before transitioning to Disney+ and Hulu.
