Martin Short Opens Up About Meryl Streep and Texting Selena Gomez

New York, NY – Martin Short shared his thoughts on working with Meryl Streep and texting Selena Gomez in an exclusive interview with E! News. Short, known for his role in ‘Only Murders in the Building,’ talked about how he often reintroduces himself when texting others, including Gomez.
“In case my number doesn’t come up,” Short explained, referring to his decision to let people know who he is. He added, “Sometimes, I get a text, and I have no idea who it is.” The comedian prefers to identify himself, especially since he doesn’t always save others’ phone numbers.
Despite Gomez likely having his contact saved, Short still messages, “It’s Steve.” Selena echoed his sentiment, saying, “It’s been five years working with Steve and Marty. It’s been a blast… I feel really fortunate and blessed.”
The upcoming season five of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ is set to premiere on Hulu on September 9, featuring guest stars like Renée Zellweger and Logan Lerman. Short mentioned that the fun during filming, especially between takes, enhances the experience. “The hang is really fun,” he said.
Reflecting on their initial meeting, Short noted, “When we first met Selena, she was already self-possessed and dignified.” He expressed admiration for her growth, stating that such qualities should naturally increase with maturity. Gomez, in turn, appreciates Short and his fellow cast members, considering them role models who remind her of the joys in life.
As excitement builds for the new season, fans can look forward to laughter and camaraderie shared both on and off the screen.
