The prestigious MICHELIN Guide has unveiled its 2024 restaurant selection for Toronto and its surrounding regions, marking a significant expansion in its third year of covering dining establishments in this area. This year, four new restaurants in the region have been awarded the coveted one MICHELIN Star. This brings the total number of one-starred restaurants in Toronto and the surrounding region to fifteen, alongside two establishments earning the Green Star for sustainability and a two-star restaurant remaining at the top of the list.

Among the new honorees, DaNico, Hexagon, Restaurant Pearl Morissette, and The Pine have each been recognized with one MICHELIN Star. Located in Toronto, DaNico offers Italian cuisine with global influences, while Hexagon in Oakville presents contemporary dishes. Restaurant Pearl Morissette, located in Jordan Station, combines its culinary offerings with a winery, orchard, and farm, showcasing contemporary dishes made with local ingredients. The Pine, situated in Creemore, integrates Chinese influences into contemporary cuisine.

In addition to the starred restaurants, the Guide has recognized four new Bib Gourmand eateries, which offer high-quality food at a moderate price. These include Berkeley North, Conejo Negro, Guru Lakshmi, and Rasa. The entire selection reflects Toronto and region’s rich culinary diversity, comprising 100 restaurants representing 30 different types of cuisine.

Special awards were also announced during the MICHELIN Guide ceremony. Shayne Herbert from Azura received the Michelin Exceptional Cocktails Award, Ashleigh Forster from DaNico was honored with the Michelin Sommelier Award, Lamine Martindale from Conejo Negro received the Michelin Outstanding Service Award, and Rafael Covarrubias from Hexagon was acknowledged with the Michelin Young Chef/Culinary Professional Award.

The MICHELIN Guide’s inclusion now spans a vast area of Toronto and its vicinity, conducting its evaluations from within the city limits to as far out as Collingwood, Hamilton, Cambridge, and Niagara Falls. Despite extensive field work, not all regions are guaranteed to have restaurants included in the selection.

The MICHELIN Guide, first published by the founders of the renowned tire company, André and Édouard Michelin, began as a way to encourage travel and thus tire usage more than a century ago. Today, it has evolved into one of the foremost authorities on gastronomy worldwide, offering recommendations for exceptional restaurants and hotels in over 30 countries.
