Multiple tornadoes were reported across the Treasure Coast on Wednesday afternoon, inflicting significant damage in advance of Hurricane Milton‘s anticipated landfall. The authorities have not reported any injuries associated with these incidents thus far.

St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson provided an update through a social media post at 3:22 p.m., highlighting the havoc wrought by a suspected tornado at the sheriff’s office headquarters located at 4700 West Midway Road in Fort Pierce. The video shared by Pearson depicted a structure severely compromised, with visible twisted and broken metal components. Despite the damage, the sheriff reassured the public that all deputies were unharmed.

Subsequently, at approximately 4:27 p.m., the National Weather Service (NWS) reported a tornado sighted over Vero Beach Highlands, progressing northward at a speed of 15 mph. Around the same time, Vero Beach City Manager Monte Falls confirmed that a fallen tree had obstructed State Road 60 near the Vero Beach Police Department headquarters located in downtown Vero Beach. He further noted, “A tornado was also spotted at the intersection of Commerce Ave. and 17th Street.”

Later, at 4:44 p.m., the NWS issued a statement indicating, “A confirmed tornado was located 10 miles northwest of Tradition, moving north at 35 mph.” Authorities remain vigilant as further updates on the situation are expected. The community is advised to stay alert and follow official guidelines as Hurricane Milton nears.
