Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle at Busy West Hartford Intersection

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A pedestrian was hit and killed at a busy intersection on Sunday night. The incident occurred just after 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of New Britain Avenue and South Main Street, according to the West Hartford Police Department.

Emergency crews responded to the scene following reports of a car striking a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found the victim unresponsive on New Britain Avenue. Despite efforts to revive the individual, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police reported early Monday.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The West Hartford Police accident reconstruction team has been called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. The intersection was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation but was reopened around 5 a.m. Monday.

“The West Hartford Police Department would like to thank the West Hartford Fire Department and AMR for their efforts on the scene,” police wrote in a statement.
