Police Investigate Disappearance of Hemmingford Woman, Arrest Made
Quebec provincial police have announced an arrest in connection with the disappearance of Kelsey Watt, a 29-year-old resident of Hemmingford, Quebec. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) revealed on Thursday afternoon that a man in his 30s has been taken into custody and is being interviewed to assess any possible involvement in the case. As of now, no charges have been filed against the individual.
Kelsey Watt was reported missing by her family after she was last seen on Saturday at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Covey Hill Road in Hemmingford, a small town situated near the United States border, approximately 60 kilometers south of Montreal.
As the investigation unfolds, the SQ has confirmed that a woman’s body has been discovered near a residence in Hemmingford. The remains are yet to be identified, and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death. The SQ has not commented on whether the body exhibits signs of violence.
Authorities, in cooperation with concerned community members and Watt’s family, have been actively searching the area for days. The investigation has now been designated to the SQ’s unit that specializes in crimes against individuals, as reported by Radio-Canada.
