Casper Wyoming Power Outage

CASPER, Wyo. –– A widespread power outage has left nearly 55,000 customers without electricity in Casper and its nearby areas as of Thursday afternoon.

The outage, which began around 12:45 p.m., has affected multiple locations including Mills, Evansville, and Bar Nunn. Reports indicate that outages are also occurring in other cities such as Douglas, Glendo, Riverton, Buffalo, and Gillette. Some outages have also been reported in South Dakota and Utah, but it is unclear if they are connected to the Wyoming situation.

According to a map from Rocky Mountain Power, the outage is significant, impacting a large portion of the area. A social media update from the company has suggested that power restoration could take until as late as 9:45 p.m.

As of 1:15 p.m., some customers in Casper reported that their power was returning intermittently. A resident in nearby Evansville noted that power has been flickering on and off.

The Natrona County School District announced on social media that schools are still conducting classes, but they will share further updates if circumstances change.

Emergency responders also attended to alarms triggered by smoke from generators activating during the outage at the Casper Business Center.
