Severe Weather Triggers Road Closures And Disruptions On Central Coast

Severe weather conditions on the Central Coast have caused a series of disruptions, including localized flooding, downed trees, and rockslides, leading to several road closures in the region.

In Santa Cruz County, Empire Grade, south of Twilight Lane, has been closed due to a rockslide. Another closure is reported on Soquel San Jose Road at Miller Hill Road, where downed wires pose a safety hazard. Felton Empire Road has also been shut down because of downed trees, power lines, and a slide. Additionally, Paulsen Road is closed due to flooding.

Highway 9, between Keystone Way and Glengarry Road, was temporarily closed due to downed trees. However, Caltrans is working to reopen the road soon.

Meanwhile, in Monterey County, numerous road closures have been enforced due to flooding. Hartnell Road, between Highway 101 and Alisal Road, is closed to traffic. Old Stage Road, stretching from Chualar Road to Potter Road, is also blocked.

The County of Monterey Public Works urges motorists to respect road closure signs and avoid driving through affected areas.

For the latest updates on road closures, residents can refer to the websites of Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, San Benito County, and Caltrans.
