Vishwakarma Puja 2024 Celebration

Every year, on the day of Kanya Sankranti, a significant festival known as Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm in India. According to the Hindu religious calendar, this year, the festival will be observed on the 17th of September, 2024. It is believed that on this auspicious day, those who worship Lord Vishwakarma receive tremendous success in their professional fields. Lord Vishwakarma is revered as the divine architect and craftsman of the gods in Hindu mythology.

This festival, also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti, is dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma, the celestial architect of the universe. People perform rituals and prayers to seek prosperity and advancement in their respective fields. Special pujas are performed, and offerings such as sweets, fruits, and other prasad are given to the deity. Tools, vehicles, and machines are also worshipped during this time, signifying their importance in professional success.

Astrologer Dr. Umashankar Mishra from Lucknow comments that the festival holds a special place in Hindu traditions, emphasizing the importance of prayers and rituals in gaining the deity’s blessings. According to the Vedic calendar, this year’s auspicious timing, or ‘muhurat’, for Vishwakarma Puja begins at 6:30 AM and extends until 4:40 PM, with the entire day considered favorable for the worship.

Participants in the festival are advised to clean and decorate their workplaces before commencing the worship. It is customary to embellish tools with flowers and kumkum, followed by lighting lamps and performing the rituals to honor Lord Vishwakarma. Such practices are believed to prevent quarrels during worship and ensure the blessings of the deity.

Additionally, certain traditional practices are believed to help in financial growth and prosperity. For instance, placing a jar filled with water and silver coins in the eastern direction of the house while worshiping Lord Vishwakarma is thought to attract wealth. To boost business prosperity, it is advised to place a red cloth-wrapped bag containing spices, silver items, and rice in commercial establishments.

Overall, Vishwakarma Puja is a day of reverence, reflection, and thanksgiving, emphasizing the contributions of technical professions and tools in our daily lives.
