Nottingham Forest Pursues Major Transfers Ahead of Season

London, England — Nottingham Forest is making headlines in the football transfer market this August. They are in negotiations for several key signings, including striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes and midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus.
Kalimuendo has arrived in London for a medical examination as part of a potential transfer deal estimated at around £26 million. The striker, who has two years left on his contract with Rennes, scored 18 goals in 34 appearances last season and recently represented France at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning a silver medal.
Meanwhile, Forest is also working to finalize a transfer for Luiz. Sources say Juventus demands a minimum of €35 million (£30 million) for Luiz, who has not quite established himself in Serie A since joining from Aston Villa a year ago. The deal is believed to be structured as a loan with an obligation to buy, but Forest has only offered verbal proposals so far.
Juventus insists on financial guarantees before any agreement moves forward. Luiz is reportedly eager to return to the Premier League, as it has always been his primary objective. The pressure is on Forest, as Everton’s interest in Luiz has waned, making Forest the front-runner in the chase.
In addition to Kalimuendo and Luiz, Nottingham Forest has also been linked to Manchester City’s Rico Lewis, who had a strong performance last season. This summer, the club aims to bolster its attacking lineup in preparation for its Europa League campaign, marking their return to European competition after three decades.
On Saturday, Forest confirmed a deal with Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchinson, part of a broader strategy to strengthen their squad. Current signings this summer also include notable players from Botafogo and a goalkeeper on a free transfer.
