Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Parts of Ohio
The National Weather Service has announced a Winter Weather Advisory for the counties of Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga, effective until midnight. This advisory is a response to the forecast of heavy lake-effect snow expected to persist through the evening hours.
Reports indicate that the total snowfall accumulation could reach between three to five inches. There are possibilities of isolated higher totals in areas where snow squalls are more intense and sustained. Initially, some of the snowfall may melt due to relatively warm ground temperatures; however, conditions are anticipated to worsen after sunset, leading to slick spots.
Residents in the advisory zones, along with those in surrounding areas such as eastern Lorain County and parts of Lake County, are advised to prepare for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. The evening commute is expected to be notably challenging due to these hazardous conditions. It is recommended that travelers allow extra time for their journeys to ensure safety.
Earlier in the day, several local areas experienced snowfall, and forecasters expect additional snow showers to occur over the next several hours. Friday morning is predicted to bring a mix of rain and snow showers, with temperatures gradually rising into the 40s by the afternoon. This shift in weather will transition the mixed precipitation into a cold, wind-driven rain. The day is expected to be particularly uncomfortable, with heavy rain accompanied by strong, gusty winds.
