Marshawn Lynch Private Eye Comedy

Los Angeles, CA — Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the pitch for a new half-hour comedy series starring former NFL player Marshawn Lynch. The series, which is currently untitled, was created by Max Searle, known for his work on the show “Dave,” and Searle will serve as the showrunner.

The show features Lynch playing a version of himself, who rejects the typical life of a retired athlete. Instead, he plunges into an unconventional career as a Las Vegas private eye. Lynch will pair up with a tough, veteran female private investigator, creating a dynamic partnership filled with unpredictable cases.

Luke Dillon and Luke Maxwell will serve as executive producers for 3 Arts Entertainment, alongside Will Arnett and Marc Forman from Electric Avenue. Additional executive producers include Lynch himself, Bryon Sheng, and Diaunte Thompson from Beastmode Productions.

This new venture marks a reunion for both Lynch and Searle with Amazon, as they have previously collaborated on different projects for the studio. Recently, Lynch starred alongside Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson in the Prime Video heist film “The Pickup.” He has also been featured in the cult comedy “Bottoms,” as well as Universal’s “Love Hurts” and Hulu’s “Eenie Meanie.” Lynch has gained popularity across various genres, proving his versatility beyond football.

After a commendable NFL career that spanned 13 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and Seattle Seahawks, where he won Super Bowl XLVIII, Lynch transitioned into acting. He has appeared in multiple shows including “The League,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Westworld.” His performance in “Bottoms” earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Breakthrough Performance.

Max Searle, prior to his work on the Barbershop TV series, received a WGA Award nomination for his contributions to FX‘s “Dave.” He has collaborated with Shea Serrano to create the Netflix series “Neon,” which explores Miami’s reggaeton scene, among his various other projects.

Both Lynch and Searle are represented legally by Ziffren Brittenham, with Lynch additionally repped by WME, while Searle has support from CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
