Jeremy Irons Returns for Jason Statham’s ‘Beekeeper’ Sequel

LOS ANGELES, CA — Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons is set to reprise his role in the sequel to the action film ‘The Beekeeper,’ produced by Amazon MGM Studios. The sequel, directed by Timo Tjahjanto and written by Kurt Wimmer, will begin filming this fall.
In the original film, Irons portrayed Wallace Westwyld, a former director and head of security for Danforth Enterprises. The first movie grossed $162.6 million globally and received a 92% Verified Hot rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Amazon MGM Studios, alongside Miramax, will oversee the film’s production. The executive producers include Jonathan Glickman, Thom Zadra, and ALi Loewy, while Spencer Ela will supervise the project.
Tjahjanto, a prominent Indonesian filmmaker known for his work in the genre, previously gained recognition for films like ‘The Night Comes For Us‘ and ‘May the Devil Take You.’ His latest English-language film, ‘Nobody 2,’ recently hit theaters and stars Bob Odenkirk.
Producers for ‘Beekeeper 2’ include Statham through his Punch Palace Productions and Chris Long, alongside Kurt Wimmer. Irons’ extensive filmography includes roles in ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman,’ ‘Dead Ringers,’ and ‘The Lion King.’ He has an upcoming film, ‘Palestine 36,’ premiering at TIFF.
Irons won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1991 for his performance in ‘Reversal of Fortune.’ He’s also received multiple Golden Globe awards and three Primetime Emmy awards throughout his career. Irons is represented by CAA.
This week, Miramax will premiere ‘Roofman‘ at the Toronto Film Festival, directed by Derek Cianfrance and featuring Channing Tatum, who also produced the film.
