BOSTON, Mass. — Trevor Rogers continued to impress, leading the Baltimore Orioles to a 6-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox on August 19, 2025. Rogers pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out seven batters, as the Orioles focused on building their future.

Rogers, now boasting a 1.41 ERA, held the Red Sox scoreless until the seventh inning, where he faced a challenge but struck out Ceddanne Rafaela to extinguish any potential threat. With 72 of his 98 pitches finding the strike zone, Rogers contained Boston’s powerful lineup, limiting them to only four hits throughout the game.

Gunnar Henderson played a key role alongside Rogers, hitting a first-pitch fastball 414 feet over the center field fence for a 1-0 lead in the third inning. After a scoreless fourth inning, Samuel Basallo helped extend the lead with a double off the green monster, which was followed by a sharp hit from Dylan Beavers, bringing Basallo home.

As the game continued, the Orioles added insurance runs, including Henderson’s fifth triple of the season. This stellar performance set the stage for Ryan Mountcastle, who also drove in a run, putting Baltimore ahead by four runs heading into the final innings.

In the eighth inning, Dietrich Enns allowed a scoreless frame before Yennier Cano encountered a tougher ninth, giving up a two-run double. However, the Orioles held on to secure the win.

In a concerning moment for Baltimore, shortstop Jordan Westburg left the game after experiencing right ankle discomfort. The team mentioned they would assess his condition the following morning.

The Orioles are slated for a chance at a mini-sweep against the Red Sox with Tomoyuki Sugano expected to start in the next game.
