Apple will begin the rollout of the eagerly awaited iOS 18 update in India on September 16, 2024. This major operating system update introduces several new features and enhancements aimed at improving the user experience for iPhone users. Among the key additions are the capability to customize the home screen, an updated Photos app, and improvements to the Safari browser. Furthermore, users can look forward to the release of Apple Intelligence in the future, which includes tools powered by artificial intelligence.

The forthcoming iPhone 16 models will be equipped with iOS 18 upon release. Meanwhile, iOS 18 will also be accessible for more than 25 existing iPhone models, ensuring a wide range of users can benefit from the latest upgrades. This significant update brings a redesigned Control Center and a password management application, facilitating easier organization and customization of the iPhone interface. Additionally, enhancements in the text effects of Messages and organization tools in the Mail app will be part of the new OS.

Apple has announced that while iOS 18 introduces several features, some anticipated functionalities related to Apple Intelligence, such as ChatGPT-powered Siri and image generation, will debut in subsequent updates, starting with iOS 18.1 in October 2024. The company has provided a comprehensive document detailing the upcoming features and improvements that users can expect over the coming months.

Alongside iOS 18, Apple will also release other updates including macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2. Improvements like iPhone mirroring on macOS Sequoia, new training features in watchOS 11, and a virtual Mac display in visionOS 2 are noteworthy. While tvOS 18 does not have a confirmed release date, it is anticipated to be announced soon.

Before proceeding with the iOS 18 update, users are advised to ensure their devices have enough storage space and are backed up to avoid potential data loss. It is suggested to delete unused apps, optimize photo storage, and use the automatic app offloading feature. Performing these steps will aid in a smooth transition to iOS 18. The update is expected to be available at around 10:30 PM IST.
