Costco Recalls Prosecco Over Risk of Shattering Bottles

Vallejo, California — Costco has announced a recall of its Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene, warning that unopened bottles may shatter without any external force. The recall affects customers in 12 states across the Midwest and South.
In a statement on its website, Costco advised customers to dispose of the bottles immediately. They should wrap the unopened bottle in paper towels, place it in a plastic bag, and then throw it away to prevent injury from broken glass.
The recall applies to Prosecco purchased between April 25 and August 25 of this year. The states included are Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Customers have been instructed not to return the item to stores. Instead, they should present the recall letter to receive a refund.
As of now, it remains unclear how many reports Costco received concerning the shattering bottles before the recall was issued.
