University Of Arizona Students Returning To School

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The University of Arizona welcomed students back to campus on Monday, August 25, marking the start of the fall semester. 13 News provided live coverage as students arrived for their classes.

The return to school featured a lively atmosphere with students reconnecting and settling into their academic routines. Many students expressed excitement about the upcoming semester.

While students at the University of Arizona were getting back into the swing of things, Arizona State University (ASU) has taken steps to redefine educational pathways for learners, emphasizing flexibility and access. With more than 1.2 million learners participating in ASU programs worldwide, ASU is reshaping when and how education occurs.

ASU’s Universal Learner Courses provide pathways for adult learners who may be returning to education after a break. This low-risk entry framework allows students to take entry-level college courses without initial costs, only paying for credits after passing.

Katie Marquez, a student at ASU, shared how their program allowed her to balance work and education. “It has already opened so many doors for me,” she said. Marquez plans to graduate in spring 2026.

The ASU model is not just about expanding access but also about transforming the educational experience. Opportunities for high school students through dual enrollment programs allow them to earn college credits early, with over 23,000 students taking advantage of online courses across 40 countries.

In Flagstaff, Northern Arizona University (NAU) saw many students move into their dorms this week, with roommate Elizabeth Oakley noting the energetic atmosphere. “It’s good to be back,” she said.

However, some students raised concerns about the rising cost of living in Flagstaff. Junior Hailey Krantz remarked, “It’s definitely more expensive living in Flagstaff.”

As students settle in for the semester, local businesses anticipate a boost from increased student spending. With the start of classes, the local economy is expected to benefit significantly.

Students from both universities are looking forward to new academic challenges and opportunities this year as they navigate their educational journeys.
