Fever Seek Redemption Against Storm After Losing Streak

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — The Indiana Fever will aim to bounce back from two consecutive losses as they host the Seattle Storm on Tuesday evening at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Fever’s recent defeat against the Minnesota Lynx dropped their record to 19-18, but they remain in contention for the playoffs, currently standing eighth in the WNBA with seven games left in the regular season.
Indiana is one of four teams vying for a playoff spot, alongside Seattle, Phoenix, and Chicago. The Storm, meanwhile, enters the game on a three-game winning streak, bolstered by a thrilling last-second shot from Jewell Loyd, securing an 84-82 victory over the Dallas Wings.
Loyd’s clutch performance not only helped Seattle improve to 20-18, moving them up to the sixth spot in the standings, but rookie center Ezi Magbegor also shone with her fourth career double-double, tallying 17 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
The game is scheduled for August 26 at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Streaming is available on various platforms. The Storm are currently favored by four points, with an over/under set at 168.
This season, the Fever have prevailed in both previous matchups against the Storm, both held at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Their latest contest resulted in a narrow 78-74 win for the Storm on August 3, where Loyd led Seattle with 21 points. Teammate Magbegor also made a strong contribution, securing a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Indiana will miss the contributions of several key players, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, both sidelined due to knee injuries. Clark, who had a historic rookie season in 2024, has been limited to just 13 games this season as she recovers from a groin injury.
This weekend, the Fever added guard Odyssey Sims to the roster on a seven-day contract, while also re-signing veteran point guard Kelsey Mitchell under a hardship contract. Despite facing injuries, Indiana is focused on regaining momentum as they continue their postseason push.
